Manifold Fixed and new wheels

I’ve had the exhaust repaired by Infinity Exhausts and added an extra support and I’m about to replace the rear engine mount as it looks pretty shot so may have been causing excessive movement which made the manifold snap.

I’ve also bought some OZ Superleggeras so I can have 2 sets of wheels with different tyres on.

Next race is on May bank holiday – 7th May – Motors TV Live Race Day – If you can’t get down to the circuit then check us out live on Sky channel 413 or Virgin Media channel 545 at 13:55 and 2nd race at 16:40 :)

Replaced Gearbox

I’ve had some shorter ratio gears put in my gearbox, got that back today and got it fitted.

Brake reservoirs moved and interior nearly finished

I’ve had to move my brake reservoirs into the engine bay after some clarification on the rules haha. Interiors pretty much finished as well

New brakes

Got some new discs and ds2500 pads and motul brake fluid. The interiors mostly installed now just haven’t got a pic of it yet!! I’ve sent my gearbox away to have some better ratios put in it, then just got to fit the brakelines and get it mapped again and we’re all done :) First race on the 9th April!!

New doors fitted and interior update

Haven’t posted for a while so got a few updates

Fitted the new GTi doors and fitted my poly windows in, oh and gutted the doors, I hate cutting up perfectly good things lol! I couldn’t believe how much lighter the doors were, can hardly pick up a standard door but the GTi is easily picked up!! Probably about 10kg a door lighter. I also put some of the interior back in.

Interior Resprayed

So I’ve had a few comments that my engine bay is cleaning than the interior of my car so thought I should sort it out :)

Brake Refurb

I’d suffered with bad brake fade and the front right caliper was sticking so decided to go for a refurb!! And getting new discs and pads as well

Went from this:

More issues – oil cooler and new doors

After getting the map tweaked a bit I booked a few sessions on the Forge Action Day, I went out for the first session and after 2 laps, out pops the lambda bung again…….grrrr!! So back in and have to wait a bit till the next session. Lining up for the next session and suddenly a marshall starts waving at me and oil is spraying out of the front of a car in a massive wave!!! Get towed back to out point in the paddock and the oil coolers burst :( (brand new may I add!!) so sent it back to Mocal who have said it must be a manufacturing defect so they’ve sent me another.

Aside from that I’ve bought a few new presents :)

Short shift

lighter doors from the GTi (I do have both not just the one lol)

and obviously due to the luck that I have….

Its alive!!

After getting the right ECU we now see signal coming from the crank sensor :) so the cars been mapped and on Monday I booked a track day to run the car in. I failed the sound check (got 113dB lol!!) the limit being 100dB, so a quick trip to my exhaust supplier Infinity Exhausts to get an extra box installed and back again, after a lap I lost power and it sounded like a tractor, then when pulling up my o/s/f brake started pouring out smoke. We found my lambda bung had popped out so bought a new one from the shop at Combe and took the calliper off and worked it a bit and copper grease and wd40 everywhere and it seemed fine. So I went back out and I was seeing low oil pressure, so unfortunately I had to call it a day :( After some discussion with the engine builder I’ve replaced the oil pump and instantly got better oil pressure, so I’ve done a bit more running in and we’re going to go for the next race :)

*pics to come*

Poly windows fitted

Well instead of replacing the broken glass I decided to go for Poly windows!! So they’ve now been fitted thanks to ACW Motorsport Plastics.

New tyres have arrived, wheels come tomorrow and mapping tomorrow/friday and 2 races this weekend!
